I happened to be working a few stores down. That could have been me or any of the amazing people I work with. She was 25 years old, just like me. My heart goes out to her family, friends, and coworkers.

Don’t ever take life for granted. Live happily and love with every part of yourself. If this were your last day because some asshole decided a few bucks was worth taking you from this world forever, would you look back and wish you had done things differently? Make every day count!

My New Year’s Resolution is going to be a new challenge for myself. I’m going to challenge myself to watch 100 new movies next year. By new, I mean movies that I have never seen before.

Anyone insane enough to take the challenge with me? It’s borderline insanity. This means I’m going to have to watch 8 to 9 new movies every month. And blog about them all. Doubt I’ll have time, but I would love to make the time!

I’m bored at work. Couldn’t you tell? We’re so slow. What’s the point of showing movies at 10am on a Friday?

Their first album has a gritty punk sound. Their second album sounded much more mellow. “Vices & Virtues” is a perfect mix of the two.

This album is everything I used to love about this band without all the things that annoy me. Their sound has always been incredibly original, but I feel that they have struggled in the past to find a sense of coherency within an entire album. There have been some songs on the previous two albums that were so all over the place that I wondered how they even made the final cut.

That is where I think this album succeeds above the others. As a whole, it’s just a great album whereas the other albums had a few great tracks and a few so-so ones.

I’ve seen them once in concert and they were amazing. It looks like I may have to start shopping for another concert ticket because I would love to see some of these songs performed live.

Thumbs up for Panic! at the Disco. Third time seems to be the charm for them.

I listened to this on my way to work this morning. My LORD that girl has a voice! And it’s like nothing you’ve ever heard before. To steal words from Simon Cowell, I think she could sing the phone book and it would sound good.

There were a few songs I liked more than others. The ones I liked most were “He Won’t Go” and “Someone Like You”. The only song that I really didn’t like was “Rumor Has It”. It’s not that I think it’s a bad song or anything, but it’s just a little to sing-songy for my taste.

1. My Soul To Take – It’s a Wes Craven film, so I’ll give it a go. Since I get into movie theaters for free, I figured it would be dumb for me to not use this horror-movie-quest-thing as an excuse to see a new horror movie or two. The IMDB synopsis for the film says, “A serial killer returns to his hometown to stalk seven children who share the same birthday as the date he was allegedly put to rest.” Sounds kind of dumb, but the previews look creepy!

2. Sleepy Hollow – I bought a used copy of this movie a long time ago and I just never watched it. I figured I might as well put it on my list since I already have it. It’s the one directed by Tim Burton which stars Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci.

3. Misery – I thought this one was supposed to be a classic since Kathy Bates won an Oscar for it and all, but while discussing my movie choices with some friends I learned that several of them had never heard of it. It was released in 1990, directed by Rob Reiner, and stars Kathy Bates and James Caan. It’s based on a Stephen King novel. Let’s hope it’s better than most of the other Stephen King adaptations that SUCK.

4. The Shining – Now this one IS a classic. And if you haven’t heard of it, then you have either managed to block out all pop culture references to the movie that have occured in the past 20 years, or you’re a teenager. If you are either of these people, click the link above to be transported to the magical land of IMDB.

5. Buried – This is a recent release about a contracted truck driver working in the Middle East who wakes up in a coffin, buried 6 feet in the desert. I’m not a huge fan of stories that only take place in one setting, but it can be done. There is an older gentleman who frequents the movie theater where I work. His taste in movies very closely resembles mine, and he asked me to watch this one because of how much he liked it. If the random guy that sees movies by himself all the time liked it, then I will too, right? The film is directed by Rodrigo Cortés and stars Ryan Reynolds. I was a little hesitant to put this on my list because it seems more suspenseful than scary, but I think it could get my adrenaline going just as well as Freddy Krueger could. Just imagine the claustrophobia! *shudders*

I know that some of you are probably thinking that this is a very boring list of scary movies, but hey! I hate this shit! Watching horror movies at all is big step for me! I haven’t watched one since The Strangers.

The difficulty I’m having is that I am not compelled to read a book if I already know its ending. It is very interesting to read because the gothic atmosphere is just incredible, but I’m just not motivated to pick it up every day. I fought through the same experience over the summer when I read Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde, but I’m glad I finished it because it was a great book. I’m trying to fight my way through Stoker. It’s just hard to stay motivated.
